The Challenge
Total revamp of small domestic garden, including excavation of four different levels, comprising of Indian Stone patio area, small lawn, raised timber flower beds and sand stone steps.
This shows how small gardens even allowing for steep gradients can be transformed into a practical and eye catching combination.
The Solution
There was a 1.2m difference in height between the levels over a 10m depth. To begin, we excavated approximately 35 tonne of spoil and created a patio area on the lower level using 450 x 450 mm slabs. We then built sandstone block steps with golden gravel infill to reach the first level, followed by landings in Indian stone. The upper level was made into patio area complete with small lawn, perfect for catching the sun. Timber structured planters were filled with Cheshire topsoil, for shrubs, plants and flowers to inject additional colour. Subtle lighting was installed in the garage to provide a nice warm feel for this cottage style garden.
