The Challenge
To create additional living space to the rear of the home and also convert the existing garage space.
The Solution
We began by demolishing an existing out-building located at the rear of the property. We replaced that with a brick extension consisting of cavity insulation , secured tiles and insulated roofing. We then installed a steel beam to facilitate the removal of the existing window and walling giving a walk-through extension leading to extended patio doors. The extension was finished with a vaulted ceiling and a floor heating membrane.
The Garage was almost completely demolished with an opening created for a doorway to connect to the main house. We then rebuilt the structure with a new insulated roof and finished with guttering, fascias, downspouts and new windows. We also installed a raised wooden floor with a heating membrane for comfort. Finished with spot lighting and a glass doorway leading to the hallway, the garage was a practical and modest addition to the home.
These extensions were built and completed to building regulations with supervision and certification from Building Control (Construction, Plans & Regulations).
